It ended up being a muddle to get, but was pleased to say that the doorbell rang at 10.30 on Thursday with the postman having a "special delivery" ... in days gone by it was a greetings telegram - but now it's a card.

Here it is on the shelf ... so you can see the tassle!

If you are British, celebrate your 60th wedding anniversary or 100th birthday then you can apply for a card. So, no, we aren't cousins. (although my brother Tim is doing the family tree and it does go back to Tudor kings ... so Very, Very distant cousins!!!!!)

They loved it! Dad actually had to open the door to the postman as it's a special delivery - so that made it that bit nicer, as well.

Wow! That is wonderful. I have read that in this country, we can receive a message from the President on or after the 50th, but I don't know of anyone who has made it that long! Congrats to your Mum and Dad!

In England we get the telegram on the 60th anniversary ... and every 5 years after that! Or, on the 100th birthday.
