A lot of the time when I see the Q&A memes around I wonder if they are worth doing, as I'm pretty open about life. Anyway I asked 2 friends to see if they could find me 5 things to ask ... and they both managed to find some really tough questions for me.
lupina78 asked me -
1. What was your most interesting/adventureous journey ever?
2. If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would that be?
3. Tell me your most favourite Spike-scene (both Buffy and Angel count of course)
4. What kind of books do you read? (I remember seeing a beautiful bookshelf in one of your pictures)
5. Favourite song of all time!
1. What was your most interesting/adventureous journey ever?
I can say there were two that come in that catagory ... with a few that run close to that point!
The first was in 1989 when Mum, Dad and I went to America for a calender month. We hired an RV and travelled from New York, via Niagra to Toronto (to see my Grandmother's bithplace ... and that was all!), London Ontario, Detroit. In Detroit we stayed a week in Northville for a wedding ... my first time as a bridesmaid (although I was Maid of Honour!), as well as doing some sightseeing such as Greenfield. After the wedding we went through Ohio, Kentucky and tennassee ... stopping at assorted points to view the scenery, then over the Smokey's to North Carolina (seeing Cherokee) and into Virginia. There we saw the "Waltons" home, Mount Vernon and Willaimsburg. Then Washington DC, Maryland, delaware and Philladelphia, before going back to New Yor.
I'd love to do it all again!
My second as the most adventureous journey was my first trip to see James! Sad, but true - it was a first in many ways ... and in some ways I'm still stunned by how much courage I had to find to do that journey ... and see James, of course.
That was London, first time in a hostel, first ever gig/concert, then Milton Keynes and first time to speak to James. Then back to London and home ... 2 days of travelling, but well worth the stress.
I have had some great holidays as I love sightseeing - so many other trips to assorted cities while with the family could come into this answer.
2. If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would that be?
About me personally ... there are one or two things I wish I'd done differently. But basically if I changed anything I don't know that I would be sitting at my computer listening to a James Marsters track on my pc and typing this! So, no I don't think I would take advantage of that!
I suppose the only one thing I could think of was that the last day I saw Jaykub, I didn't walk him back to his field ... he went with others. I wished I had been with him for those extra 10 minutes.
3. Tell me your most favourite Spike-scene (both Buffy and Angel count of course) LOL - Still has to be from BtVS!!!!
There are 2 or 3 that come into this ... hard to pick the #1. Although I think it may have to be his speach to Buffy where he tells her "She is the one". Who doesn't want to see them work it out at that point? That image is on both my Profile as well as my banner on my LJ ... so I suppose that is the image I love of them lying in each other's arms.
I love the image where we first see him ... so much snark and attitude, then Dru says his name and his face changes, and softens ... his attitude is focussed on her. That set the tone for who Spike is.
And, finally, I can't not mention the image of him at the bottom of the staires, watching a newly risen buffy walk towards him
4. What kind of books do you read? Yes, I do read a lot, but not as much variety as I used to ... once I discovered Spuffy Fan-Fic, that is my favourite Genre.
My shelves have loads of Bibles ... as I read it every day, and there are an assortment of translations. I have hymn books, Bible guide books etc.
I have a lot of books on the history of World war I & II ... both actual factual books as well as fiction. I am reading a WWII fiction book as well, at present. I have a lot of the classics ... I love Jane Eyre, Pride & Prejudice, Gone with the Wind, Anne of Green Gables etc. And, have the full set of Dresden Files, easily to hand (I'm re-reading Changes, as well)
I have all my childrens books ... Ladybird books, Sunday School prizes, joke books
So, all in all, there is something for everyone ... about many things.
5. Favourite song of all time!
From James it is London City, with Fall of Night a close econd.
But overall ... a hard question. I like a lot of songs, and some of them depend on my mood. But the one or two that really are special are ones by The Beatles and The Seekers, who I grew up with. Hard to chose a favourite. But when I was a kid I had a real-to-real tape with this as one of my choices ... I now also like the clapping on it, as I noticed one of the GotR tracks had similar!
I am a great Cole Porter fan, but have posted my favourite of his in the past - Frank Sinatra singing "What is this Thing called Love?" ... however Andy asked for a long-term favourite, so The Beatles it is.
strikske asked me -
1 I asked it of
luckster25 but want to hear your answer: Your question to James if you could ask it in person?
2 I will tweak the question about favorite Spike scene and change it to least favorite.
3 If you where given the oppertunity to play a duet with James (you don't have to sing but only play an instrument) would you?
4 If you could give a no money costing gift to someone what would it be and to who would you give it?
5 If you could make a movie what would it be about and besides the male lead (I know who that is going to be *gg*) who do you want in it?
1 I asked it of
luckster25 but want to hear your answer: Your question to James if you could ask it in person?
One question I would love to ask him, and have never had the courage, is to know how he decides what music he will play ... whether the family ask for certain songs, or if it depends on his mood ... or good memories of the people about who he wrote the songs.
If I asked on a one-to-one it would be his favourite place that he's been on a date!
2 I will tweak the question about favorite Spike scene and change it to least favorite.
I think that's an even harder question than a favourite scene. Some of the scenes that I don't like do show what a multi-layered character he is.
The "rape" scene is hard as it really is a difficult image (ask James!) ... but as seen by a demon in an abusive relationship, the storyline makes sense ... sort of! Buffy had been so hard with him, that it was difficult for the demon in him to know what was happening. However I also agree that the scene must have been truly impossible fro James and Sarah to portray ... although you don't notice that factor when you dare to watch it.
As to another scene, seeing as that is "famous" .... it would be ... the "sex" scene outside DMP ... neither seem to be truly "there" ... even Spike.
It was hard to decide - hense a short insignificant choice ... and one of the reasons for the delay in getting this answered and posted!
3 If you where given the oppertunity to play a duet with James (you don't have to sing but only play an instrument) would you?
I hate playing when people hear me! Having said that I've learnt as part of an orchestra making music is a great achievement ... both in being positive to yourself, sharing with the rest of the group and having an effect on the audience.
So, if he would write out the music for me (sorry James, I can't learn music like you do) ... yes I would .. he would be the only one that I would dare to do that for, though! I think we all say, James stretches us. His music moves me, and I would like to show him how much us fans love to listen and be involved in those songs.
4 If you could give a no money costing gift to someone what would it be and to who would you give it?
A few of my LJ friends are having problems - I would love to be able to go up to them and give them a hug.
Over the years my best friend has been able to chat about some of the hard aspects of her life ... for her and one other person, I would like them to be able to spend time at a place of their choice, with a drink of their choice (although that would cost ... so it will have to be tap water!) ... and to be able to let them talk about the real problem ... without judgement, maybe even without answers. But most people need an independant ear ... jsut so that they can unburden themselves, without fear of loosing standing in the other's eyes.
5 If you could make a movie what would it be about and besides the male lead (I know who that is going to be *gg*) who do you want in it?
Yes, I would love to see James ina film - and I would love it to be a blockbuster ... he deserves that his talent is seen by more people.
The theme is a harder choice ... I suppose it would be a historical swash-buckling film. Something like the original Pirates ... but maybe set during the English Civil War ... there are some great stories of spies (on both sides) .... or the other choice would be "The Scarlet Pimpernel" which, if like the original films, would give him plenty of chance for disguises, accents etc.
If anyone wants to play ... just ask and I'll give you some questions, although I can't guarantee they'll be as awsome as thes ones!
1. What would be your favourite pudding/sweet?
2. If you were able to spend a day with a Celeb .... just chatting, watching them work ... who would it be?
3. If you were only allowed to see one film this year, what would it be ... either a new release, or an old favourite.
4. If you could visit one city, just for a day, which one would it be? Why?
5. If you were able to visit one moment of history, when would it be? Would it be an actual event, or just to see the normal lifestyle?
Have fun ... if you don't like any, let me know and I'll think of another.
So here it goes: "Paper. Scissors. Rock. Spock. Merlin."
Mmmm - let's think -
1. I asked
2. If you could go to the Concert/Gig of anyone, alive or daed, who would it be?
3. Have you ever seen Gone With The Wind? If so, more than once? And, if so ... does Scarlet get Rhett back?
4. Who are your second and third favourite characters on Vampire Diaries (I'm presuming that I know #1!!)
4. What would your own slogan for Texas be?
If any of those are ones you don't like - just ask and I'll think of something else.
PS Good Luck!!
I like to see what questions you come up with for me. So I'll play.
So, what can I ask ....
1. Your top three favourite animals?
2. Is there any TV series you have watched, and in the last episode, your wanted a completely different ending?
3. I shall ask you the same as I did
4. What are your 3 favourite pairings (canon or not) that you like in BtVS?
5. If you and your daughter could go away (anywhere) for a weekend, where would you go?
PS - Good luck! If any are impossible, then let me know and I'll re-think!
I'll play but if you can't come up with questions, don't worry.
Mmmm - let me think.
1. I shall ask what I've asked others - If you were able to visit one moment of history, when would it be? Would it be an actual event, or just to see the normal lifestyle?
2. Who are your favourite 3 pairings in Buffy?
3. If you won the lottery (or were given a large sum of money) what one thing would you buy ... or do ... with you house? (eg a painting, a new table, a new ktchen...)
4. If you could go to the Concert/Gig of anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?
5. Have you met any celebs, and if so, would you want to see them again?
PS - Have fun, and if there are any you don't like thn I'll change them.
Is "Greenfield" Greenfield Village near Detroit? That is one of the coolest places ever!
Greenfield Village was a brilliant day - lots of bit I remember, but I think seeing Edison's Workshop was my highlight ... although we did smile seeing people queue to visit Cotswold Cottages ... we didn't bother!
We had lunch watching the Riverboat ... I'd forgotten the Wright Bros shop ... thanks for reminding me!
That´s sooo true!! AWWWW!
Thanks for playing along - I really enjoyed reading your answers! ♥
Thank you - they were truly awsome questions!
Your icon makes me cry - Damon is so sweet to Elena, there, isn't he?
Oh yes, he really is! This scene is so perfect to describe his feelings for Elena..so sad she´ll never know! (though I still hope that some details from the books will be transferred into the show)
♥
Last night's episode was great - showing more of Damon's feelings.
