As I said last time this was the prompt, life is made up of magical moments separated by long, or short spaces in time.
I suppose one moment that sticks in my mind is about an eye problem I had ... one of quite a few! So, I'll put behind the cut, as I've discovered some people hate thinking about eyes at all!
Back in 1988 (2 weeks before Christmas!), I woke with distorted vision in one of my eyes. I mentioned it at lunchtime, as it was still there - and Mum booked an appointment with my doctor for that evening. I went, and he looked and said he couldn't see anything wrong - but I ought to see a specialist ... just in case.
So 3 days later I went to the hospital ... and had a thorough examination ... now, here comes "that" moment .... she didn't speak while doing the tests, then turned to me and said -
"OK, today's Friay, if you come in Sunday I can do the op Monday"
Yep - that was my first realisation that it wasn't just take these pills and go home!
Anyway - the morning of the op, I woke in hospital blind in the eye!!!! That was scary++++++++
I had managed to tear my retina, in 2 places, and then it detached .... so a 2 hour op later I now have a 90% vision (that's still distorted), and 2 silicon clips in the eye - in fact, any of you who have met me will have seen one of them as both are very visible, but just under my eyelids!
I am truly thankful to have the vision that I have.
