As you all know, by now, I have not been in a relationship ... so it seemed a hard question when I first read it.
Then I thought about my family - yes, I love them dearly, even though they all annoy me from time to time I honestly love them. I loved Perry, Misty, Jaykub, DJ ... and now Jiffy. They have been very special people who fill a huge space in my heart. I can say I love my best friend ... then I met Spike, LJ and James, and fell in love (LOL) ... but I also "met" a lot of people, and there are a few of you that I can honestly say I love.
So, what is love, IMHO?
The songs and books say that you would do anything for that person - and I think it's true. I have even lied to help a loved one, I am there for them ... willing to give them a hug (or their enemy a punch) ... just be what they need. It's hard to really put my feelings into words, as whatever I am trying to type is sounding trite. And, I'd forgive and forget ... although most of the people I love have never really hurt me, so it hasn't been something I've needed to do!
However, my greatest love is towards God, and from His Book are these beautiful words from 1 Corinthians ... often read at weddings ... but so true -
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Hard to sum up emotion - I just know that "Come Hell or high water" I'll be there for someone I love.
