Pic Scam - Launcells
23rd-Sep-2010 07:52 pm
James with Halo!
As I said, Mum and dad are visiting and this afternoon, we went to see the "Least spoilt Church in Cornwall" - according to Sir John Betjman - Launcells.  It is on the outskirts of Bude - and only has the vicarage within 2 miles of it, as the original village was wiped out by The Black Death.

As you can see - even Jiffy had a wander around the outside -

And this tomb is dated 1624 - and is stunning in an otherwise plainish Church -

What a gorgeous church!

It is beautiful - and just so un-touched by the Victorians, which has kept it this stunning. Other Churches in the area, were re-painted ... which means you see the pictures ... but not in their original state, like here.

You lighting is amazing. Love the tiles in front of the alter. That second picture really shows that there isn't anything around. Do I have to say that the subject of the first pic needs to be hugged? Have fun during the weekend.*HUGS all*

Jiffy had a great time - lots of places to sniff ... and then another place after this Church.

Yes, it's isolated - which has helped to keep it quiet, and "un-touched"

Hope your weekend goes well.

We are lucky to have these beautiful places all around us in this part of the world.

So beautiful! It's nice to see your pictures... we don't have churches like this here in the states!

Well some of this Church is pre 1100 ... so we are lucky to have that much history over here. Just wish more people appreciated it.

That is an absolutely gorgeous Church!

It is stunning - and great to think how many centuries of prayer have taken place here.

I go to Church - so it's not something I think about.

As an artist Churches are great, I would have thought - the archways, marble & wood ... this one is so unspoilt that historically it is fascinating.

looks neat, vicarage is a funny word :0)

*g*

Vicarage is lived in by a Vicar - as opposed to a Parsonage that's lived in by a Parson!

man, religion is all too confusing :0)

PS

Oh ... and a Rector lives in a Rectory ... a Paster in a Manse!
