Maundy Thursday


Today is the day that traditionally is called Maunday Thursday .... which is commemorated by the Queen every year in giving money to the poor, which was started in AD 600, as you can see here and this year occured at Derby Cathedral. She presented purses of coins to 84 men, and 84 ladies (one for each year of her life) -

The Maundy Money ceremoney was started as a commemoration of Jesus Christ washing the feet of the desciples at the Last Supper ... which was the meal that they had before Jesus was arrested and tried to death.
