Horses - The Most Amazing Creatures
5th-Nov-2009 05:16 pm
Wow

I am a member of The British Horse Society; and in todays mag there was an article about this pairing - they are gold medalists in Freestyle Dressage - or Equine Dancing ... fi you prefer.

It shows real pairing (love and trust) between horse and rider - and many hours of work.

But it also shows how incredible horses are - they dexterity, and concentration.

Please watch - whether or not you have even seen ... or will ever see another horse.

I've never even heard of Freestyle Dressage, but it sure is impressive! That horse must be extremely intelligent!

Most horses could learn to do most of this - but DJ would not be happy if I decided he had to do it - Food is his #1 interest!!!

Beautiful dressage work. The horse and rider were really impressive.

I have done some dressage type exercises with my first horse (not Levi) like shoulder yielding and extended trots. I thought all that ring work was wonderful and really improved my horse's use of his rear end. When we got him he tended to be too heavy on the fore.

Stunning - isn't it.

I was just starting working with Jaykub when he died. Although he was a pony, he would have been pretty good - as he would also have enjoyed the challenge!

DJ on the other hand ... if it doesn't involve food ... why bother? Although when he moved to his present location, working on hills etc helped balance his natural gait - he tended to be lazy!
