As he first spotted me he whinnied - which was more than cute. I called, and he called back - then went back to eating!!!!
He was happy to see me - and carrot. though and walked in well.
My first job, while getting the breathing to settle was to cut about 8" off his tail. He lives out, and by leaving the tail to drag in the mud, ruins it. So, although I hate doing it, once the wet starts it is something I do. Then his bridle inch got trimmed ... feet picked out, brushed ... yes he had obviously had a snooze on his left-hand-side, as the right had been "power washed" in the rain! The his tail was conditioned, brushed and combed; and finally his mane brushed, combed and plaited.
He got ready and we had a couple of minutes wait for Toni and Junior ... Toni had to tighten the clenches in her shoes, before it was safe for Junior to be out. Then we walked up the road to meet Ros and Shadow.
Our Wednesday ride - and good weather.
We didn't go far, as my breathing was poor, as were Junior's shoes!!!! So just round the block.
However still a bit of a scare - there were cattle in a field they hadn't been in befre - How dare they? Some scarpered to the other side, others kept pace - DJ couldn't seem to decide which set he approved of!
Still it was a good ride - great to be out ... And even better for DJ as I told him I wouldn't be back until next week!!
