How many of you have had a "special" place of your Childhood, and then discovered that such a place actually exists?
From my earliest days I have (as I have mentioned in the past) been a head-banger during sleep, which has really upset Mum and Dad as they were told it was unloved babies who did that ... and I was much loved and wanted. However nothing stopped the head-banging which I called "Jacksdisaster" after my favourite Nursery Rhyme.
Jack and Jill went up the hill
The fetch a pail of water;
Jack feel down and broke his crown,.
And Jill came tumbling after.
Up got Jack and home did he trot,
As fast as he could caper;
Went to bed and bound his head,
With vinegar and brown paper.
When Jill came in how she did grin
To see Jack's paper plaster;
Mother vexed, did whip her next;
For causing Jack's disaster.
Now, there are one or two explantions to this rhyme ... one of which is that of the French Revolution .... the other of which is a small town near where my brother Nick lives.
There was a young couple who lived here, and every morning they would walk to the top of the hill to use the well, one day they slipped, and Jack fell down and broke his head, which he later died of. his wife followed a few weeks later after a traumatic birth. The child was raised in the village .... and locally there is a popular surname called Gilson (which is said to be a derivation of Jills' son)
So, as you can see, I walked up and down Jack and Jill's hill ... with all the family - and no one was injured!
