Bank Holiday - Watcombe, South Devon
26th-Aug-2008 10:43 am
James - buzz cut & name.
Yesterday was a Bank Holiday which meant (as the law states) the weather wasn't great!  Still, I hadn't been very well again over the weekend, so it was nice to have a very lazy morning.

After lunch, Mum, Dad, Jiffy and I went to their nearest beach - although as you can see by the pics, it is not for the faint hearted to explore.

The car park was a coach turning area back in Victorian times.  in those days the Victorians would stay in Torquay and take a trip out to see the rock formations, so to be thorough we did both the rocks and the beach!

Watcombe Woods.

The Victorian Tourist Attraction.

On the way down to the beach.

Typical English woodland.

The beach.

Our intrepid explorer.

And so back home - and certainly had an appetite for tea after that.

Then drive back to Bude in time for the firework display - which is an annual event, to finish off a day of fund raising for the Lifeboats (R.N.L.I.) - Bude has an inshore boat stationed here.

Soall in all a nice day -

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend / Bank Holiday / will enjoy Labor day next week!!!

Yes, feeling better today - but gave DJ the morning off, as I don't want to push it - I have a holiday coming up.

Those woods are so lovely - even with the track being maintained, they are still very natural, aren't they?

Lovely, lovely. That red clay by the seaside is really something, and I adore seeing rustic photographs of the woodside. That's a great shot of the fireworks! I'm glad you had a good bank holiday & I hope you're feeling better soon.

The red soil of Soth Devon is amazing - although it can stain your clothes!!

Yes, I'm feeling better again - I think the overall peace of the day really helped me re-charge the batteries again.

They are weird - no wonder they became a Victorian tourist attraction!

The red cliffs they have in South Devon are a beautifully rich colour, aren't they?

Sounds like a good way to spend a bank holiday. Love the red colour of the cliffs - and the woodland looks lovely and peaceful.

It is a lovely place - English countryside at it's best.

The red is amazing - but can stain your clothes.

Not a Jiffy-double if he sat quiet ... Jiffy would have organised you all!!

Looking forward to seeing the pics though - it is hard to get good ones of him, as he is always so "busy"!
