Sword of Sacrifice

70th Anniversary

Just wanting to say that I have stood on Omaha Beach on a quiet grey morning ... and wondered how anyone got up to the dry land.

For the sake of love ... their country, their family, their buddies, many men faught and died 70years ago today ... on both sides of the war, wearing a multitude of uniforms and speaking a variety of languages.

Many families suffered - and the pains and heartaches remain.  Today lets remember the pain - but remember the courage that so many people had that day.

My father was working in London on the River Thames and remember watching huge "blocks" being towed down the river, while my mum was in Northamptonshire surrounded by the U.S.A.A.F. ... for them 70 years ago started off as an "ordinary" day, by the end of it, the whole world hoped they had seen the beginning of the end of the war.

Pause and Remember.
