Holiday October 2013 - British Museum

I started my first day off with the trip from Exeter to London by coach ... and then dropping my things off at the hostel I was staying at on the edge of Hyde Park.  It wasn't one I had used before, but the same company as the one I went to last time.

And so to start my holiday.

First port of call is The British Museum.  The visit there is worth it just to see the actual building itself ... both the amazing outside and the new build inside, where the payed exhibitions take place ...

It's hard to chose a few favourite pieces to share without bombarding your pages ... but below the cut are a few of my favourite items that I spotted on this visit ...Collapse )

I remember standing on a beach with Mum and Dad and looking at this "shed" that was on the edge of the promenade ... then it lifted up in the air and we got "stung" by flying sand.

A hovercraft.

Years later I asked M&D about it, and they had gone to see the first commercial crossing from North Wales to Liverpool (we lived in N, Wales at the time)

As you can see - here is the news story ... I was only 1 year old.
