Adventure before dementia

Creation Explained!

On the first day, God created the dog and said:

'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'

The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?'

So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said:

'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.'

The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?'

And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said:

'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.'

The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years.. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'

And God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created humans and said:

'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.'

But the human said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'

'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'

So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family.. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren.. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information.. I'm doing it as a public service.

#####

I must add that I genuinely BELIEVE in the Creation as described in The Bible ... however it doesn't stop me seeing the funny side of life.

GOD'S Rosebud

A new minister was walking with an older, more seasoned minister in the garden one day.

Feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was asking the older preacher for some advice.

The older preacher walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the will of God for his life and ministry. But because of his great respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to try to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact. It wasn't long before he realized how impossible this was to do.

Noticing the younger preacher's inability to unfold the rosebud without tearing it, the older preacher began to recite the following poem...

"It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine."

"The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so easily,
But in my hands they die."

"If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?"

"So I'll trust in God for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to God for guidance
In each step of the way."

"The path that lies before me,
Only my Lord knows.
I'll trust God to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose."

Be willing to acknowledge your family, yet be able to break away if necessary.
Have strength - of body; but also of heart.
Be willing to love, even if that love is not returned.
Not to worry what people think of your outfits/hairstyles.
Be happy on a basic diet, but also enjoy the unnecessary additions to add texture and flavour.
Be willing to support the ones you love, their family and friends ... with no thought of thanks.

So ... any ideas ... yes, the #1 choice of vampire in a recent poll - Spike!

Day 22- A song that would be the theme song to a TV show about your life

Hard to decide, as my life is not TV-worthy!

However this song, which I grew up knowing, works pretty well on a couple of levels.  I have made very few real friends over the years, and those who I count as friends, I don't want to lose them as I know I won't find those people again.

However ... this verse says much about my faith -
It's a long, long journey
So stay by my side
When I walk through the storm
You'll be my guide, be my guide
God is with me as my strength and guide.

So, my choice would be "I'll never find another you" by The Seekers (this video was at their farewell concert, which I actually remember watching on the TV ... Mum is a huge fan, and their last song actually had her in tears (a rare thing!)

Wow, deciding on a James song ... that was even harder!  But I decided that I could chose one of the ones that he sang at Union Chapel in May 2008 - Picture in a Frame.  Beautiful words, and does sum up my house ... the epople (both 2 and 4 legged) who are important to me are in frames all around me.
