Love Hearts - Day 1 ... Getting Ready For The Gig!

As ever, before I start the details, let me say that I had a brilliant weekend - but tiring, as once I get sorted the adrenaline switches on, and sleep switches off ... and I haven't yet come down to earth.  So, if there are any glaring mistakes, let me know, as brain and keyboard my not be connecting!

That said and done - let me get on with the saga!

I left Mum and Dad's (only being seen off by a startled Jiffy)  at 6.50am, and drove to my brother Tim's house in Exeter ... fortunately for me he is an early riser, so as I got there at 7.45am he had already been up some time.  He drove me to Exeter coach station, as my bus left at 8.15 ... and with the command to -

"Have a great time .... Knock yourself out"

I headed off.  I did think Tim shouldn't have said such a thing - anyone who knows me, knows I can do that easily (more about that in a minute!)

The journey up was good - and listening to James on my mp3 got the squeeeee increasing!  We got to London slightly early and I made my way to the hostel in Picadilly where I have stayed previously.  What a muddle that was - the person in fron tof me had their credit card refused ... the person in front of them was arguing that they had payed for tonight, but had been asked to vacate their room.  Neither person spoke brilliant English ... so needless to say it was a wait, and in a very warm room!

Once I got there it was easy, given my key, settled, sorted out and headed back out again towards the tube (via McD's!)  They had some closures over the weekend, so I went to Notting Hill Gate Station ... and, yes ... fell up the steps!  What I hadn't noticed was I twisted my left foot (JamesFog is great for that!)!!!!

I then walked to The Taberacle ... and then worry set in.  was I at the correct place?  The correct day?  There wasn't a queue - where was everyone.  So, I decided to take a deep breath and go in to ask if I was in the correct place (some of you may not know it but that is high on my list of "no way" tasks!)  As I walked in - there was the queue!  Yay, I could breath again.  The venue were really great - they let us sit inside, use the loo (and the bar) ... but if we wanted to bring our own food from the mini-mart next door they were equally happy!

We had a virtual queue formed ... but the main thing was the joy of getting a chance to chat to friends I already knew, as well put some faces to names.  All in all a great way to spend an afternoon ... especially as we got to see James arrive (well, Steve and Froggy came as well ... but ... !!!!

Soon it came time to get ourselves "stamped" ... but as ever there was a bit of a muddle there, with some people getting annoyed with the virtual queue.  Those who had got there by 9am to be sure of a good place were upset ... although by the time we got in they were in the front ... and I ended up near the front .... and got chatting with some more new friends .... one of whom was a Newbie, who had actually come over from The Netherlands just for the evening.  I also got chatting to luckster25  who had dragged her boyfriend along ... a great way for her to celebrate a belated 21st birthday.

Steve then came on stage and read out the winning poems from the JMLive competition.

Then .... James came on stage!

Love Hearts - Day 1 ... The Gig!

I loved the fact that tonight was just James ... no support acts that fill up time, and then usually get me slightly annoyed ... I am one of those weird people who tend to like what I like ... will lsten to something else (briefly) ... but I make snap decisions! A bad thing, in lots of ways, but that means I don't want to listen to something I don't happen to like.

Sadly I can't remember what he sang .... although I can honestly know that he did sing London City ... my favourite. It was his second (I think) song ... a great way to start the evening.

I am hoping that I shall be able to edit this later when I find someone who has the set list.

Until then .... here are a few pictures of the evening. Sadly, I hadn't the "focus" to be able to experiment with camera settings ... I was too busy enjoying James! So, the lighting isn't great - added to that the changing colour filters ... and the problem that I am colourblind, so am unable to edit the pictures myself!

Love Hearts - Day 1 ... Photo

As most of you know I have a problem speaking to James .... as soon as I get close to him, I completely clam up. So, I decided to have another picture !!   How about that as a good excuse for spending more money!  No, seriously, my theory was that if I saw him on Day 1, by Day 2, I might be able to speak!

I queued with luckster25  ... and I think chatting to her helped my normal panic subside slightly!

He greeted me with a handshake, and a hug, and I was actually able to speak to him ... to thank him for playing my favourite song.  Great to actually be able to chat.

The photo was, as ever fun ... mainly as Froggy had to have 3 attempts to get the image .... longer for the hug.

I left him with another hug, and the personal hope that the picture would be half-way decent!  Now, you can judge for yourself -

366 MEME - Day 361 - Loft Insulation

Not the best of pictures - but how do you take a picture in a small space!  anyway, my loft was booked to be done in 2 weeks and they phoned about an hour ago to ask if they could come now - so, I have a man in the loft at present!!

BTW - The rocking horse you may see in the background is what I had when I was 6 ... remind you of anyone?  Yes, DJ was part of my life 30 years before he was born!  On it now, are Jaykubs saddle and DJ's first saddle - as well as both the first set of shoes that I wore out on Jaykub, and DJ's first ever shoes!

Love Hearts - Day 2 ... Getting There!

Last night left me on a high (which I had expected) ... but was stunned at how awake I was ... in other words, no sleep at all!

In the morning, shower, dress .... put on shoes (which is hard around a sore foot ... and, of course, I had to injure the foot that was uninjured last month, so now both are complaining!) ... still I got ready and out, via McD's again and off to Notting Hill ... and then tooka  wrong turn walking to the event.  So, even more footsore, I got to The Tabernacle at about 11.15am.  Great to chat to more people - and begin to get excited as to the day ahead.

James arrived looking stunning in a suit.  I know he prefers T-shirts and jeans (he said so later at the Q&A), but he looked gorgeous ... and looks relaxed as well.  So the morning was finishing well!

We then had our tickets checked off, and found out that we were sitting at tables ... spikereader  and I were at table 3, which was centre right of the stage ... great placing.  I again that Carolyn for getting the tickets - she did a great job!  If you didn't see the ttable centres, then you can see the picture here.  We all had a red rose, 4 badges ... and a small packet of love hearts!

We were then told about the event - first off would be the photo ops .... and so the day had started!

Love Hearts - Day 2 ... Photos

We went up table by table ... and so didn't have too long to wait before it was our turn to queue.

I said that I had the picture yesterday so that I would be able to speak ... guess what?  the plan failed!  I was completely tongue-tied again.  Oh well, at least I managed it on day 1 ... even if James wouldn't have remembered that!

So - I was mad enough to pay for 4 pictures, and they were all done together ... see if you can decide which of the 4 is my favourite ... I now have 2 new pics up in my treatment room, one being the one taken on day 1 ... the other being one of thes 4 -

Love Hearts - Day 2 ... The Play

After the photos we were treated to the reading of the play "Love Letters" ... which is a truly lovely work, and one that I had never heard.

James and Robyn Isaac worked well off each other .... and, all I can say is that there were quite a few tears shed, including by James, who apologised later.

It is hard to say what was so special for me ... the story really did touch me on a personal level, James voice is so smooth as to make anything he reads beautiful - and the 2 actors worked well together.

I hope everyone who was there was as moved by this story I was.

Love Hearts - Day 2 ... Q&A

After the play, there was a short gap, and when James returned it was wearing a t-shirt and jeans ... and so to the Q&A!

I can't remember all he was asked, but here are a few things I do remember.

He talked about the play - and his thouhts as to both why the story unfolded as it did, as well as what tips he would have given to both charaters.

Yes, he prefers t-shirts and jeans to a suit.

He doesn't think guys are scared away by intelligent women.

When asked how we were meant to cope with photo ops, he said that he was told to love the camera ... we are intimidated by it, therefore itdoesn't work with us.  He told us to use our eyes and not our facial muscles to express ourselves ... someone laughed and asked if we could all have our pictures taken again now we had these hints.

When he was asking who he supported in the football (?- I think) he answered, which didn't mean anything.  However he did say that he felt out-numbered at home, with 3 ladies, and although his girlfriend supported him, she didn't get into the actual game!

Yet again he talked about his feelings of MacBeth ... and his desire to film it and asked if we had $10,000,000 to spare!  He spoke about Lady MacBeth and described how his casting of her would be important.

He would love to do more Torchwood.

He talked of his fears on day 1 of filming High Plains Invader, when he had to stand on a gallows with a rope around his neck, and of the fears he had while filming Moonshot ... the claustaphobia.

There must have been more ... and I am sure others will have had a more comprehensive list, however, that was a few of the highlights - and here he is, answering the questions-

Love Hearts - Day 2 ... Autographs

Now it was time for the final section of the afternoon - the autographs.  we had been given one personalised as part of our ticket, but I decided to get another one as well.

Ever since the second time I saw him, when I printed out a picture from the previous concert I have kept that "tradition" going.  Although he didn't realise it, he signed the picture that I have on my desktop of my pc.

The one I had personalised was the one that was chosen by you, my friends, in the vote a couple of weeks ago.

When it was my turn, I did actually manage to say how much I was enjoying the Dresden Files - he had said in his Q&A thast he was finding the work very hard to do - I am enjoying them, so was glad to tell him that his work was being appreciated.

Its not suprising that he was having problems with his hand later - a concert last night - then lots of writing this afternoon.
