Historical Exeter 2

Yet another thousand years of history is in St Nicholas Priory which was founded in 1087 and has both Medieval and Tudor displays. It used to ba quadrangle, but now only half of that exist's ... of which one section is a private dwelling.



This is believed to be an original cross painting from the early priory













From the Priory we walked down to the River Exe (of the name of the city) and saw the old Medieval bridge.  The river has been slightly diverted, but not far away.  As you can see, there was also a bridge on (both) side(s) of the bridge.











Stepecote Hill .... and, yes, we did walk up it.



And, this is famous as The House That Moved - it is 14th Century, but in 1961 it was put or rails and moved, and turned through 90 degrees,  to build the inner bipass
