contemplativeWell I read The Bible every morning, and am at present reading The Old Testament - and today was reading from the book of Lamentations. It is quite a sad book, as the name shows, and was written by Jeremiah. His country had been destroyed and most of his companions killed or captured -
However in the midst of this sad time he wrote some lovely words :-
The unfailing love of the Lord never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction.
Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each day.
I say to myself, "The Lord is my inheritance; therefore I will hope in Him"
The Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait for Him and seek Him.
So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from The Lord.
You heard me! You listened to my pleading; you heard my weeping!
Yes, you came at my despairing cry and told me "Do not fear"
Lamentations 3 vv 22 - 26, 56 - 57 (N.L.T.)
Very positive thoughts.
I also love verse 26 as I am keeping it as a promise. Every day I pray for 2 very special people - that they will really be happy ... and learn how much God loves them. To me this is a promise that I will see those prayers for those people answered.
