Trip To Dartmouth

I have just posted I went to Dartmouth last Friday.  It's a real town of history ... some amazing scenery, and a castle, or two.

We were actually able to get into the Church, as it was open (unusual in these days) -St Saviour's Church


The large memorial brass to John Hawley, believed to be Chaucer's 'Shipman' in the Canterbury Tales (1340 –30 December 1408)






We went to Dartmouth Castle

As we walked to the Castle we saw the Castle on the opposite side of the River, at Kingswear.  There used to be a chain between the 2 castles to allow the river "traffic" to be blocked.
