LOL - James
Don't panic

I have just had a blood test, and the nurse was telling me a great joke she had just seen ...

2 women were talking, and the elder told the younger that she had just had her mammagram.
The younger asked as to if it hurt!
And the reply was .... "I went in with 2 cups and came out with 2 saucers"!!

I understand that weirdly, bigger boobs hurt less when they are done than small ones... I have mine tomorrow and I am trying not to think about it! I never used to bother about the results and then my friend L got a result to say she had breast cancer (which she ultimately died of). Now I am in a mild to middling state of anxiety until I get the all clear. *sigh*

True, actually. In one year, I'd gained a size or 2 there and it was much easier. Probably the cushioning and they don't have to pull as much on the skin to get it into the machine.

I hope everything went well with yours. There are always some false positives, and it is agonizing to wait until you get an appointment to clear everything up. If your insurance covers it, 3D mammography or ABUS (ultrasound screening, usually approved if there is evidence of high density causing those false alarms)are possibilities.

I have more padding, so it's not too painful.

In England our scans are done via the NHS

I have more padding, so it's not too painful ... When I had my first one the lady in front of me screamed really loudly!!

My mother (and her aunt & cousin), as well as my father's sister are/have all been breast cancer sufferers ... so I can't take the risk.

An accurrate description, I think. I always take painkillers beforehand to make it more bearable.

I've had one mammogram, and it was so effing painful I've never had another.

I've been fortunate in that mine haven't hurt. A little discomfort but not to the point of pain. (I mean actual discomfort, not doctor-speak discomfort - usually when a doctor or nurse says you might experience "some discomfort" they seem to mean "this is gonna hurt like nothing else!".)
