Christine came over for the day, and after an early lunch I drove us to Sand, in Sidbury. As well as the famous stately homes, we still have houses that are privately owned, and open a few days a year to help with the upkeep. Sand is one. We were given a guided tour, as well as a history lesson, by the owner. Obviously there are no indoor photos, but for a house that dates back to 1200 it was fascinating.
The small original building was ignored in 1300 when a new building was built, and then in 1500's the original was added to, thus making a Tudor house. The owners rented it out for years which meant no real changes were made, although lighting, indoor plumbing etc was added at the beginning of the 20th century.
