Photo Friday

Today they are mostly photos of a place about 3/4 mile from where I live.

However the first photo is re-taken for those who are not following photo_scavenger as I have posted the item there.  In England (for those who don't know) we have the King/Queen's name on a post box.  Obviously there are loads of E II R for our present queen ... however this one is more unusual -

Anyway, letters posted we walked on to St Loye's Chapel.   It was built in the 1380's to serve a local rural mansion and is dedicated to the patron saint of blacksmiths and goldsmiths.  After 400 years it fell into diuse and disrepaire, and spent many years as a stable.  St Loye's emblem is actually a horseshoe.  As you can see it wouldn't give much shelter now, but I love the way it has been left in the middle of this housing estate.

And, of course our intrepid explorer was there to check things out.

In the afternoon I took Jiffy for his regular haircut ... so he looks nice and tidy again.  Here he is, in the car ready to go home for dinner
