What kind of kindle do you have? A regular Kindle or a fire?

Tim & Claire got it for me over 2 1/2 ytears ago - so one of the traditional ones.

Well, I have a Kindle, and I've never gotten internet. How the heck did you do it?

I knew I had internet as I had downloaded The Bible that I had bought on Amazon ... my others are put on via my computer.

I had put in "Search" to look for a specific story and it offered to search My Kindle, The Web etc ... so I experimented!

I'll see what happens. Thanks!

I clicked the wrong button when searching for a fic that was on my Kindle ... and investigated further!

Yep, I knew, but here it's really slow, so I use it rarely. It's listed under experimental or something (must look it up), so it's not that easy to find in the first place. I'm typing this on my new Sony Xperia tablet whilst sitting on my front balcony - tre's cool!!

Mine was OK to find (now I know where it is!!!) ... but, as you say, very slow.

However it will be useful if I am away in London or something so I can keep up to date with LJ friends.

That's what I've found in the past. One time we had to collect Jake from a concert in Sydney (long story I won't go into now) and I was able to use the Kindle to look up the train timetables, street maps and then when we had a flat tyre on the way home after collecting him, I used the night light from my Kindle cover while Bruce was changing the tyre! Who would have thought the Kindle was more than just an e-reader. Although Jake now has a Kindle Fire, which is very pretty ...

I have wondered what the Fire is like ... but as my present one is working fine, I shall stick with it.

I sometimes use my Kindle for internet if I'm in bed and my phone's downstairs, but I don't use it much as it's a bit clunky to get round. Still, handy in an internet emergency!!

It is very slow - but as you say handy ... next time I go to London I shall be able to keep up to date with LJ ... I only keep a basic phone contract.
